Ultra-low power multi-modulation wireless STM32WL3x microcontrollers line now expanding.
Based on Arm Cortex®-M0+ core, sub-GHz radio, and wideband wake-up radio, STM32WL3x microcontrollers support multiple modulations and an IQ interface for custom modulations for even more flexibility.
The STM32WL3x is a highly integrated long-range wireless solution for IoT devices offering a simplified design approach and low power consumption for extended battery life.

It offers the essential features for wireless IoT devices, including:

- All-in-one application processor SoC. Optimizes the bill of materials (BOM), reducing the end device footprint and design complexity.
- Long-range & low power.
- Multiple modulations and protocols. Reduces the R&D development effort by using one single platform to support many communication protocols (excluding LoRa).
- Extends battery life by reducing the power consumption of wireless applications (low power features). Enables 10 years battery life in many applications and the use of energy harvesting.
STM32WL3x product types
STM32WL3x microcontrollers provide designers with flexibility in terms of memory size and pin counts.
Two ECOPACK2® compliant packages are available to address different levels of complexity to ensure a cost-efficient fit for application requirements.

The STM32WL3's main radio offers long-range connectivity with RX sensitivity up to -132 dBm, programmable TX power up to +20 dBm, and low power consumption (10 mA at 10 dBm). It supports various modulations, an IQ interface for legacy protocols, and complies with global radio regulations, covering 159-185 MHz, 413-479 MHz, and 826-958 MHz for major sub-GHz ISM bands.
Metering line
This line is ideal for water and gas meters, heat cost allocators, and smart city infrastructure.
IoT line
This line excels in applications such as smart homes, asset tracking, and alarm systems.
Modem line
This line is defined to be used as an open network co-processor.

STM32WL3x is fully integrated into the STM32Cube ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration with the STM32CubeWL3 firmware package, STM32CubeMX code, STM32CubeProgrammer, STM32CubeMonitor, and STM32CubeIDE.
Radio development tools
WiSE-RadioExplorer is a graphical user interface for interacting with STM32WL3x line devices and evaluating their radio capabilities, and WiSE-RadioCodeGen , a PC application for building flowgraphs that define radio actions using a sequencer driver, are also available.
STM32WL3 IPDs
Reducing PCB footprint and achieving the best RF performance with STM32WL3’s IPD:
A portfolio of 8 RF integrated passive devices (IPDs), MLPF-WL-0xD3 RF IPDs, is available and ready to be used as STM32WL3 companion devices. RF IPDs, integrating into a tiny footprint the RF BoM of harmonic filters and impedance matching, can be used to speed up RF design and time-to-market.
