The STM32Wx MCUs bring wireless connectivity to the STM32 MCU portfolio. They cover Sub-GHz as well as 2.4 GHz frequency range operation. They are easy to use, reliable and perfectly tailored for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications.
STM32Wx solutions are compatible with multiple protocols, from point-to-point & mesh to wide-area networks with outstanding low-current consumptions and built-in security features. STM32Wx wireless MCUs feature a two-in-one, dual-core architecture built around an MCU and a radio transceiver, in one deeply integrated and highly cost-efficient System-on-Chip. STM32Wx solutions are thus a perfect match between real-time and/or highly power-efficient applications.
The STM32Wx platform is the ideal fit for RF designers looking for more than just a radio device.
The STM32Wx portfolio includes two series, featuring different radio protocols: the STM32WB and the STM32WL.
The STM32WB series supports Bluetooth® LE 5.3 and IEEE 802.15.4 communication protocols, Zigbee® and Thread, running either individually or concurrently. The multi-protocol capability enables Matter technology, which ensures seamless interactions between connected devices in smart homes across different IP technologies.
With a wide and easy-to-use ecosystem, the STM32WB series offers certified, free-of-charge radio stacks. To ensure device integrity, the STM32WB’s security features enable end-device trustability and anti-cloning features.
To reduce time to market and address cost-effective PCB to high level integrations, the STM32WB series includes STM32WB MCUs, available in different packages (from UQFN48 to UFBGA129), as well as a ready-to-use module.
The STM32WL MCU series is the world’s first LoRa®-enabled System-on-Chip.
The STM32WL is fully open and supports multi-modulation, making it the ideal choice for LPWAN (Low-Power Wide Area Networks) and IoT developments with outstanding ultra-low power consumption without compromising on performance.
The ultra-low power STM32WB MCUs are based on a dual-core architecture and support multiple protocols. STM32WB comes with many wireless stacks to address Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Thread, in single and concurrent modes.
Getting started with STM32WL
Download the free STM32CubeWL embedded software package containing the HAL, LL (low-layer) APIs, middleware, LoRaWAN®, Sigfox™, W-MBUS and mioty® certified stacks in stand-alone or concurrent mode. Then install ST’s STM32CubeMX graphical software configuration tool (free) that supports pinout configuration, code generation and a power consumption calculator. Start with one of the many examples provided or build your own project.
To fine tune your application, or perform radio test or build your own profile download and install STM32CubeMonitor tool.
