Foot massagers and massage chairs are widely used to provide muscle release and stress relief through automatic massage programs in order to accelerate muscle recovery, alleviate muscle pain, reduce heart rate, increase flexibility, improve circulation and promote better sleep. They offer precise control and allow users to adjust the speed control for desired massage intensity.  They usually combine recliners and several air cells driven by multiple electric motors and give the user the possibility to select the right massage program. The latest generations offer the possibility to connect to smartphones to provide insights on how massages are helping physical recovery or stress relief.

ST’s offering provides a broad portfolio of solutions that enable designers to create innovative massage devices integrating advanced features. A key product family is our fully integrated STSPIN motor drivers capable of driving all kinds of motors with a very level of positioning accuracy, very low power consumption and full motor protection. For higher power massagers our motion control devices can create a safe and gentle massaging experience. Other key products include high accuracy and low power motion sensors including embedded event detection features, sensor fusion and software tools that allow to build proprietary algorithms, power management devices to provide the power sources to remote sensing circuities, low power microcontrollers, and ultra-low power Bluetooth low energy system-on-chip for seamless communication with smartphones.
