Computer and numerical control (CNC) machines are electro-mechanical devices that manipulate machine shop tools ensuring the long lifetime and lowest possible down-time which is essential in manufacturing equipment often working 24/7.

One of the challenges is designing servomotors for the many axes and spindles found in any CNC which require very high positioning and synchronization accuracy.
